AmCham program One World, Many Voices will support 9 school projects by allocating CZK 537.000

AmCham will allocate CZK 537.000 earned thanks to its traditional One World, Many Voices program among 9 Czech public schools through the whole country. Funds from AmCham members´ donations made at the Thanksgiving Ball will support school projects that bring active children together with local government representatives. This is in line with the aim of this program - fostering active participation in communities. Member commission and the Board of Directors selected those projects from 23 received applications from Czech elementary and secondary schools.

Thanks to its members’ donations, AmCham will allocate CZK 537.000 among 9 Czech public schools throughout the whole country. The support goes to school projects that bring active children together with local government representatives through realization of something beneficial for local community.

By its program, AmCham would like to foster active participation in communities and help with building trust among young people and local governments. The chamber believes that active participation in society is crucial for each democracy. Working on a project should also help children to implement theoretical knowledge in practice and communicate in English, since project proposal and a final report should be delivered in English.

Funds for the One World, Many Voices program come from donations of AmCham members mostly at the Thanksgiving Ball either through purchasing corporate tables or bidding in the Silent Auction.

There were 9 projects selected from 23 submitted. Schools will get grants in the range CZK 80.000-23.000 Projects that could not be supported by AmCham will be circulated among chamber member companies and they can support those projects individually. The program will continue in 2014 and all the members companies are invited to support it by donation.

Projects were evaluated according to following criteria: purpose and objectives of the project, positive effect on the community; involvement and cooperation of a class, local community and local government; long term sustainability of the project; value for money.
